During the 29/05 radio broadcast of "WebGang" at Radio Centraal in Antwerp,
the news of the forthcoming 1.0 release of Mozilla, and the spontaneous planning of
Release Parties worldwide was mentioned. "What I like about the Linux community is that they do not have just one slogan. Every party has it's own, funny slogan or party name.", said Lydia Waterside (WebGang) afterwards. So the idea grew to plan an Antwerp Mozilla Release Party: "Prime Time On Air" Party. Some representatives of local Linux User Groups will be invited for debate in the studio, or called by phone. Representatives of Release parties abroad who are interested to do some covering (to record in advance or "on air") by phone, might give a sign by e-mail: webgang@radiocentraal.be. We like to follow the atmosphere of ongoing parties live, or the preparation of coming parties the weekend afterwards. The program goes live on air wednesday june, 12th at 6 pm. WebGang is a weekly live radio show on Radio Centraal in Antwerp. It combines CityGang (about Antwerp) and WebGang (about IT, media and internet) in one program. It brings a lot of news on Free Software, Open Source, and a critical view on the surrounding IT-world. Radio Centraal is an Antwerp local radio station at 103.9 fm. It is non-profit, completely independant and lives from the creative and financial contribution of the members; mostly students, artists, and other audio-creators. It is situated in the old city centre of Antwerp, at the border of the Schelde. |
De Antwerpse Mozilla Release Party: Prime Time in WebGang! Op woensdag 12 juni wordt in San Francisco, CA, de Officiele Release Party voor Mozilla 1.0 gepland. Spontaan ontstonden parralle parties over de hele wereld, gecoordineerd via een website. Op die site doken al snel parties op in alle grote Europese steden; (zie artikel webgang ). "Wat zo opvalt is dat het niet een vaste slogan is, overal hetzelfde, maar dat die allemaal een eigen originele, soms grappige naam bedenken voor hun party. Daar hou ik van in de Linux-wereld" - Lydia Waterside na de wekelijkse WebGang uitzending van 29/05/2002. In het verlengde daarvan organiseert de WebGang een eigen "Release Party op FM" op woensdag 12 juni, om 18:00 u. Vertegenwoordigers van Belgische Linux User Groups worden verzocht contact op te nemen met webgang@radiocentraal.be. Graag nodigen wij een beperkt aantal mensen uit in de studio om te discussieren over Mozilla, Netscape, Open Source en Free Software. Wie niet aanwezig kan zijn, krijgen we graag tijdens de uitzending aan de lijn: geef in een e-mailt het nummer door waar we je kunnen bereiken. WebGang gaat wekelijks kritisch om met nieuws uit de IT-wereld. Het besteedt als programma regelmatig aandacht aan de ontwikkelingen in de vrije software en open source wereld. Onderwerpen die ook aan bod komen in eigen reportages, interviews, artikels, enz. |
